PADI EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE

First Aid is a vital skill for anyone, for use in the home, the street, at work or at play. In the event of an accident a trained first aider would know exactly what to do. This course is designed for anybody between the ages of 12 and 112. It is a general first aid course there is no SCUBA diving involved.

The medic EFR First Aid course is a basic training course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care. It is a medically based assistance course designed to train you to follow, at the layman’s level, the same emergency procedures and priorities used by paramedics and doctors.

The skills of patient care necessary to support the life of an ill or injured person are covered in the first, primary care, module in which practical application and hands-on practice are emphasised through use of a mannequin. This makes absorbtion of the necessary information very easy. The course includes use of automated defibrillators. The second module, secondary care continues on from the primary course and deals with techniques used when medical help is delayed. The approach of the course is designed to provide the patient with continuity of care as that patient is passed from the first person at the scene to the paramedics and finally on to the doctors.

Options

Just the first module can be taken to meet the minimum primary first aid and CPR training requirements for PADI Rescue Diver, but we would however recommend taking both modules especially if you intend one day to progress to Divemaster and Instructor.

Costs & Availabillity

The cost of the two course, primary and secondary, including a certification card, first aid manual and first aid kit is £95.

The course takes approximately 8 hours and can be organised over a day or two evenings to suit
