PADI RESCUE DIVER
The PADI Rescue Diver course is an important and crucial step in expanding your knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. This course is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership training such as PADI Divemaster and Instructor.
The course is an enjoyable way to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to assist or rescue divers in need. At the same time the primary objective of the course is accident prevention skills.
Pre-requists
In order to qualify to take this course you must be PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent (usually BSAC Sport Diver). You also need to have done a First Aid course, which includes CPR training, within the last three years. If you have not got any such training, we can provide it in the form of the PADI Emergency First Response course at a cost of £95.
Content & Convenience
The PADI Rescue Diver course is performance based, rather than adhering to a strict time frame. The Rescue Diver course consists of, approximately, 10-12 hours of academics and 2-4 days open water training. The academic training includes the following:
1. Self Rescue and Diver Stress
2. First Aid
3. Emergency Management
4. Equipment Considerations
5. Assists and Rescues
In the open water you will learn how to deal with conscious and unconscious divers both on the surface and underwater. (You will get to learn the skills first in a warm, private swimming pool for ease of learning. This means you normally only have to repeat it once in open water to get it right. The pool work is normally completed in one 3-hour session). You will also learn about rescue management, and run through simulated accident scenarios.
Costs & Availability
The PADI Rescue Diver course costs £270.00 and can be scheduled according to your needs, during the week, at weekends, or evenings. The cost includes the Rescue diver Manual, certification cards, and any equipment (other than suit), that you might need.
